Connect and post to X (Twitter)

X is on paid plans only. X charges for every post made through its API, so the Free plan can't connect X, and PostDaily says so if you try. On a paid plan, open Connect a channel, pick X, and approve PostDaily on X's own screen.

Posts, threads and polls

• A post: 280 characters, counted the way X counts. Every link is 23 characters however long it is, and emoji and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters count as 2. The composer's counter uses the same rules.
• Media: up to 4 images or one video. GIFs can't be uploaded.
• A thread: click Add to thread to write the next post. Each post in the chain gets its own text and media, up to 25, and they publish in order as replies.
• A poll: 2 to 4 choices of up to 25 characters, open from 5 minutes to 7 days. A poll can't carry media.
• Who can reply: everyone, accounts you follow, mentioned users, subscribers or verified accounts. Polls and reply settings apply to the first post of a thread.

The monthly X budget

Each paid plan includes a monthly budget for X, which covers about 40 posts on Starter, 170 posts on Pro and 710 posts on Agency, or 10 on Starter, 45 on Pro and 190 on Agency if every post carries a link. The budget belongs to the workspace owner and is shared by all their workspaces.

• A link costs more. X charges about 13 times as much for a post containing a link, including one written without https://.
• Threads count per post. A five-post thread uses five posts' worth.
• Reading metrics uses a little. Each check of a post's likes and impressions costs a small amount, so a post uses some budget after it publishes too.
• Your billing page shows what is left, as an estimate of the posts it still covers.

Other things X refuses

• Duplicate text. X rejects a post that repeats one you posted recently. Change the wording.
• Long posts. There are no long posts through the API: 280 is the limit, so split longer ideas into a thread.
