Chains, written as separate posts
Write a chain as explicit posts, each with its own photos or video, up to 25 in a row. PostDaily publishes the first, then each next one as a reply to the one before, which is how a chain works on Threads, and a week of chains can sit in the queue at once.
Who can reply, topic tags and links
Choose who can reply: everyone, profiles you follow, your followers, mentioned profiles only, or only you. Add a topic tag (up to 50 characters, without full stops or ampersands) and, on a text-only post, a link attachment. These apply to the first post of a chain.
One chain, four networks, counted four ways
Threads allows 500 characters a post. The same chain can go to Bluesky (300), Mastodon (500, with links counted as 23) and X (280, weighted), and the composer counts each the way that network does, so nothing is cut off on the way out. Split a draft into a thread.
Media on Threads
A carousel takes up to 20 photos and videos mixed, and videos run up to 5 minutes. Your plan caps items per post at 4 on Free, 6 on Starter, 8 on Pro and 12 on Agency, which is lower than Threads' 20.
No first comment on Threads — use the chain
On Threads the follow-up belongs in the chain itself, so the composer offers Add to thread instead of a first-comment box. Chains need the Threads reply permission, which PostDaily asks for when you connect. Meta also caps how many posts an app can publish per profile each day, which a very busy account can reach.
