Scheduling & queue

How to schedule Instagram Stories

Photo and video Stories can be scheduled; link, poll and music stickers can't. Where to schedule them, what survives, and when to post from the app instead.

Updated · 4 min read

You can schedule an Instagram Story made of photos or video, but not one with a link, poll, music or other interactive sticker. Those stickers can only be added in the Instagram app when you post. The Instagram app's own scheduler doesn't cover Stories at all: it schedules posts, Reels and carousels. Stories are scheduled in Meta Business Suite or a tool like PostDaily.

In Meta Business Suite

  1. 1
    Click Create story

From the home page or the Content tab. Under Post to, choose your Instagram account, your Facebook Page, or both.

  2. 2
Add up to ten photos or videos

Business Suite's editor can add text, mentions, stickers and a link to each one.

  3. 3
Choose Schedule and pick the time

Scheduled Stories are under Content → Stories → Scheduled. These steps are from Meta's help centre, checked on 27 September 2026.

In PostDaily

  1. 1
Attach photos or one video, and choose Story

Several photos publish as consecutive frames, up to 10. A video Story is one video of 3 to 60 seconds, published on its own.

  2. 2
Schedule it or add it to the queue

It goes live at that time and disappears 24 hours later, like any Story.

What doesn't survive scheduling

  • No interactive stickers. Links, polls, questions, music and countdowns can't be added through Meta's publishing API, so no scheduler can include them.
  • No caption and no first comment. A Story has no caption field, and Stories don't take comments.
  • No people tags or collaborators. PostDaily doesn't send them on Stories.
  • Each frame counts toward Instagram's daily cap. A 10-frame Story is 10 posts against the limit on how much an app can publish in a day, and a long Story can hit it part-way. The post records which frames went out.

The same Story on Facebook

Select your Instagram account and your Facebook Page in the same post and choose Story for each. Facebook takes one photo or video per Story, so a Story going to both is limited to one item; schedule a multi-photo Instagram Story on its own. See How to schedule Facebook Stories.
