Scheduling & queue

How to schedule Facebook Stories

Schedule a Facebook Page Story in Meta Business Suite or PostDaily, what survives scheduling and what doesn't, and posting the same Story to Instagram.

Updated · 3 min read

You can schedule Stories on a Facebook Page, but not on a personal profile. Meta Business Suite does it for free, and PostDaily does it alongside your other networks. Either way you need full control of the Page or content permission on it.

In Meta Business Suite

  1. 1
    Click Create story

From the home page or the Content tab. Under Post to, choose the Page, an Instagram account, or both.

  2. 2
Add photos or videos, then edit

Business Suite takes up to ten items. Its editor adds text, mentions, stickers and a link.

  3. 3
Choose Schedule and set the time

Scheduled Stories are under Content → Stories → Scheduled.

In PostDaily

  1. 1
Attach one photo or video and choose Story

A Facebook Story publishes one item at a time. A video Story must run 3 to 60 seconds.

  2. 2
Schedule it, or add it to the queue

The Story goes live at that time and expires 24 hours later, as every Story does.

What doesn't survive scheduling through an app

  • No caption, stickers or link. Meta's API publishes the photo or video only. If a Story needs a poll, a link sticker or music, publish it from the Facebook app or Business Suite instead.
  • No comments. Stories don't take comments at all, so there is no first comment to schedule.
  • Collaborators on video only. A collaborating Page can be invited on a video Story, not on a photo Story.

The same Story on Instagram

Select your Facebook Page and your Instagram account in the same post and choose Story for each. Each network gets its own copy at the same time. Instagram also lets several images go out as consecutive Story frames; Facebook takes one.
