Can you schedule posts in a Facebook Group? What still works
Group admins and moderators can schedule posts inside the Group. Schedulers can't, since Meta removed the Groups API in April 2024. Here is what works instead.
Yes, if you're an admin or moderator of the Group: Facebook lets you schedule the post inside the Group itself. What you can't do any more is schedule a Group post from Buffer, Hootsuite, PostDaily or any other cloud scheduler. Meta removed the permission those tools used on 22 April 2024, and nothing replaced it.
Schedule a post in a Group you manage
- Go to facebook.com/groups and open the Group.
- Click Write something... to start a post. You may need to click Discussion first.
- Write the post, then click the calendar icon next to Post. It only appears once you've started typing, and only for admins and moderators.
- Pick the date and time and click Schedule.
To change it later, open the Group and choose Scheduled posts under Admin tools; you may have to click Manage first. From there you can reschedule, post it now, edit it or delete it. These steps are from Facebook's help centre, checked on 27 September 2026.
Recurring posts with Admin Assist
Admins, not moderators, can set a post to repeat daily, weekly or monthly. Open Admin Assist, click Add next to Publish a custom post, write it or pick a suggested prompt, choose how often and when it starts, then Add to Admin Assist. The admin who sets it up is the author, and each repeat appears in Scheduled posts 24 hours before it publishes. Another admin who wants to edit it has to delete it from Admin Assist and add it again.
Why schedulers stopped posting to Groups
Until 2024, schedulers posted to Groups through Facebook's Groups API, using a permission called publish_to_groups. Meta deprecated the Groups API with version 19.0 of its Graph API in January 2024, and on 22 April 2024 removed it from every version, along with the permissions that went with it. Since then no app has had an official way to post into a Group.
Some tools still list Groups. Before paying for one, ask how it posts. If the answer isn't Meta's API, it is one of the workarounds below, with the risks they carry.
Browser-extension auto-posters
The tools that still "post to Groups" mostly run inside your browser, filling in the Group's composer as your personal account, outside Meta's API. They work until Facebook changes its page or blocks the pattern, and when they stop, the account doing the posting is yours. We don't recommend them, and PostDaily doesn't offer one: it publishes only through the official APIs each network provides.
What to do instead
- Schedule it in the Group. If you're an admin or moderator, the native scheduler above is the reliable route, and it's free.
- Use recurring posts for the prompts and reminders you post every week.
- Post to your Page, then share into the Group. Schedule the Page post in advance, and share it to the Group by hand when it goes out.
- Ask an admin. If you post in a Group you don't run, send your post to an admin or moderator to schedule for you.
